Artists and shows for events in Phuket

Double D Project has been putting together show programmes in Phuket since 2013: villa weddings, birthdays, corporate events, gender reveals, yacht parties. We have our own roster of vetted artists — musicians, dance and light shows, hosts in Russian and English. We do not just hand over a contact: we build the programme around the format and the venue, agree the timing, bring the artist and take responsibility for them going on stage.

Price per artist — from 5,000 ฿. The total depends on the line-up, the number of sets and the venue: a performance on a yacht or on a neighbouring island costs more than one on shore, and a holiday surcharge applies over the New Year dates. We give the exact amount once we know the date, the place and the format.

Live music changes an evening more than any decor. A saxophone at sunset by the pool, a violin at the ceremony, a cover band after dinner — these are three different evenings, not one service.

Hosts, DJs and face art

A host is needed where there is a programme: a wedding, a corporate event, a milestone birthday. At a party without a ceremony a DJ is usually enough — they lead the evening with music. We have hosts in Russian and in English, as well as a mashup format, where the DJ works together with an MC.

Fire and light shows

A fire show on the beach in the evening is the most common request in Phuket. The format is priced by the number of performers: solo, duo, trio or a large group with pyrotechnics. LED shows win where open flame is not allowed — indoors, on a yacht, on hotel grounds.

Four things. Line-up — a solo artist and a group of six are different budgets. Number of sets — a show is usually priced in sets of 10–30 minutes, and the second and third sets cost less than the first. Venue — working on a yacht or travelling to Samui or Phangan costs more than on-shore Phuket, as logistics and accommodation are added. Date — over the New Year holidays artists apply a surcharge coefficient.

Wedding. For the ceremony — a violinist or a saxophonist: a live instrument at sunset creates a moment people rewatch on video afterwards. For dinner — a cover band or a singer, so there is a backdrop rather than silence. For the evening part — a DJ. A host is needed if there is a programme with toasts and games.

Corporate event. A host is a must — they keep the timing and stop the evening from falling apart. If there are foreigners among the guests, Thai dances and a traditional Thai band go down well: that is what people came here for. After that — a DJ and one or two short shows between the programme blocks.

Birthday. A fire show on the beach or by the pool as the main moment of the evening, go-go for the dance floor, a magician if the guests are of different ages. A host is usually not needed — a DJ is enough.

Yacht. What works is whatever does not need much space or open flame: a saxophonist, go-go, LED shows. Fire shows are not performed on board. The artist is booked for longer than usual — they are tied to the length of the cruise, not to their two sets.

Gender reveals and children's parties. An animator, neon face art, Party Girls. The format is short and the programme packed.

These are different jobs, not a cheaper-or-dearer choice. A live instrument creates a moment: people listen to it, watch it, and it draws guests around it. But it works in 30-minute sets, and someone else is needed in between. A DJ carries the whole length of the evening and knows how to lift the room and bring it down. The combination that works best is a DJ for the whole evening plus one or two live instrument sets on top of their set.

We bring artists all over the island: villas in Rawai, Chalong, Kamala, Surin and Bang Tao, hotels in Patong, Karon and Panwa, restaurants and beach venues. Yachts from the Chalong and Ao Po piers are a category of their own. We also travel to Samui, Phangan and the neighbouring islands: there the artist's flight or ferry, transfer and accommodation are added to the price.

For musicians the standard is two 30-minute sets with a break. For shows it is a 5–15 minute set; two sets in different costumes are usually booked so the evening does not sag in the middle. A DJ is charged by the hour, two hours minimum. A host — from three hours, because anything less makes no sense: they arrive in advance and get to know the venue.
