Sound Equipment Rental in Phuket

Double D Project has been supplying sound for events in Phuket since 2013. Over more than a thousand events we have learned the part that matters most: the equipment is the easy half. What decides whether your party sounds good is who sets it up, how the room or the beach behaves, and whether someone competent stays at the desk once the guests arrive.

What you get

Every rental includes soundcheck before guests arrive, an engineer on site for the duration of the event, and dismantling afterwards. Delivery and setup are quoted separately, from 2,000 THB for a car and from 5,000 THB for a truck, depending on the area and what has to be carried in. You are not renting boxes and cables — you are renting a working sound system with someone responsible for it.

We hold our own inventory rather than sub-renting, which means we know the condition of every unit and we can commit to a date without waiting on a third party.

Where we deliver

Across the whole of Phuket — private villas, beach clubs, hotels, restaurants and yachts. We also travel to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Phang Nga and Bangkok. Yacht setups are a separate discipline: everything has to be secured against movement and protected from spray, and the power available on board is limited. We have done it often enough to plan around those limits rather than discover them on the day.

How to book

Tell us the date, the venue, the number of guests and what is happening — a DJ set, a live band, speeches, or all three. We come back with a specification and a quote. For high season, December to February, book as early as you can: equipment and engineers are both finite.

Frequently asked questions

Do you deliver and set up the equipment?

Yes. Delivery and setup are quoted separately, from 2,000 THB for a car and from 5,000 THB for a truck, and the soundcheck, an engineer on site during the event and dismantling afterwards are part of the rental. There is no version where we drop off equipment and leave.

How large an audience can you cover?

From an intimate villa dinner to events of more than 1,000 guests. The right system depends on the space as much as the headcount — an open beach needs considerably more than an enclosed room with the same number of people.

Can you provide sound on a yacht?

Yes, and we do it regularly. Yacht setups need equipment secured against movement, protection from spray, and a power plan that respects what the boat can actually supply. Tell us the vessel and we will size the system to it.

What DJ equipment do you rent?

Pioneer throughout. CDJ-3000 and CDJ-2000NXS2 players with DJM-A9 or DJM-900 mixers for a full club-standard booth, and all-in-one Pioneer XDJ-RX3, XDJ-RX2 or XDJ-XZ units where space or power is limited — on a yacht, for instance. Visiting DJs can request a specific configuration in advance.

How far in advance should I book?

Two to three weeks is comfortable. For December to February, book as early as you can — high season exhausts both equipment and crew.

Do you work outside Phuket?

Yes: Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Phang Nga and Bangkok. Travel and logistics are quoted separately.

What if the venue has a noise limit?

Most villas and several hotels do. The usual solution is silent disco headphones — guests hear the full system at full volume, neighbours hear nothing. We supply the headphones and the transmitters.

Every system below belongs to Double D Project and ships from our warehouse in Thalang with cabling, spares and an engineer who tunes it to the room and stays for the event. JBL PRX series rental

Our workhorse powered tops and subs for events of 30 to 200 guests. Enough headroom for a full dance floor without the boxy midrange that makes speech unintelligible during toasts. Rigged on stands for villas, stacked on subs for beach and outdoor setups.

JBL PRX 715 XLF rental

A 15-inch extended-low-frequency subwoofer — the box you add when the DJ set is house or techno and the standard PA runs out of bottom end at the volume you actually want. Two under a pair of tops will comfortably carry a 150-person pool party.

JBL EON 615 and EON 208 rental

Compact powered speakers for speeches, ceremonies, cocktails and small villa dinners. The EON 208 is a portable two-speaker system with a small mixer built in — the practical answer for a beach ceremony where there is no power and the whole rig runs off a battery pack.

JBL IRX 112 rental

A single-box solution with usable coverage and low weight, frequently paired with a wireless microphone for corporate presentations, welcome speeches and product launches in hotel function rooms.

JBL line array rental

A compact line array for larger outdoor events, festivals and beach stages where a point-source system cannot cover the depth of the audience. Even level from the front row to the back, which is what stops the front rows being deafened while the back hears nothing.

Martin Audio rental

Martin Audio systems in our own inventory — a British touring-grade brand with the controlled dispersion that matters on Phuket, where almost every venue has a neighbour and a curfew. Directing sound at the audience instead of at the hillside is often the difference between finishing at 02:00 and being shut down at 22:30.

Electro-Voice rental

Electro-Voice cabinets, also ours, known for reliability in heat and humidity — the two conditions that kill PA on a tropical island. A dependable choice for long outdoor days: conferences, sports events, opening ceremonies and full-day corporate programmes.

L-Acoustics and d&b audiotechnik rental

For riders that specify a particular large-format system we source these on request. They are not held in our warehouse, so they need lead time. If your artist’s technical rider names one of them, send it over and we confirm availability and price before you commit.

Soundcraft and Behringer mixing consoles rental

Analogue and digital consoles for live bands, speech-heavy programmes and multi-source events. Enough channels for a cover band plus a DJ plus two wireless microphones without repatching between segments — which is what usually goes wrong at weddings when the ceremony, the dinner and the party all share one small mixer.

Shure SM58 and SM57 rental

The standard vocal and instrument microphones, wired. Indestructible, feedback-resistant and the ones every singer, host and engineer already knows.

Wireless microphone rental

Handheld and headset radio microphones with frequency coordination done in advance. On Phuket the band inside a hotel is crowded, so we scan and set frequencies at setup rather than hoping. Ceremonies usually take two, conferences four or more.

Stage monitor rental

Wedge monitors so live musicians can hear themselves. A saxophonist playing over a DJ set without a monitor will drift out of tune with the track — the small line item that decides whether the live segment sounds professional.

Simultaneous interpretation system rental

Interpreter booth, transmitters and audience receivers, integrated with the room’s PA, for conferences mixing Russian, English, Thai and Chinese speakers.

Generator, 6 kW rental

For beach ceremonies, island events and older villas that cannot carry a PA plus lighting. Silenced, delivered with fuel, positioned out of earshot.

Protects amplifiers and digital consoles from the evening voltage sag that is normal in several parts of the island.
