# Kimono Edition — a Japanese themed party in Phuket

Kimono Edition in Phuket: a Japanese themed party produced end to end — decor and photo zone, sound and light rental, DJ, show, catering and bar.

An Asian theme in Phuket suggests itself, but slides easily into souvenir kitsch. We built Kimono Edition differently: a restrained palette, paper lanterns, dark wood, silk and a minimum of objects — exactly as many as it takes for a guest to feel the rhythm of a Japanese interior.

A kimono dress code solves two tasks at once: the guests are comfortable in the heat, and the party looks composed from the start. We build the programme on contrast — a calm opening with a ceremony and [live music](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/cover-band-phuket), a dense electronic part towards the night.

The format suits a [birthday](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/birthday-party-phuket), an anniversary and a [private party](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/private-party-phuket) where the aesthetic matters more than the volume.

## What we took on

- The concept, the dress code and references for the styling
- [Decor](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/catalogue/decorations): paper lanterns, silk, flowers, a tea ceremony area
- Light: a warm wash, candles, accents on the textures
- [Sound](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/catalogue/sound) and a [DJ](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/dj-phuket) set, live instruments
- Show acts and a host in the style of the evening
- Photo and video, a [photo zone](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/photo-zone-phuket) in a Japanese aesthetic

## Equipment, bar and decorations for the format

The Japanese aesthetic does not tolerate cables sticking out, so we hide the equipment in the decor. The event equipment is our own: a JBL [sound system](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/sound-equipment-rental-phuket), compact [speakers](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/pa-speaker-rental-phuket), a [subwoofer](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/catalogue/product/jbl-sub-prx-715), a mixing desk, [radio microphones](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/microphone-rental-phuket), Pioneer [DJ equipment](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/dj-equipment-rental-phuket) and warm lighting fixtures. Sound and [lighting equipment](https://www.doubledproject.com/en/services/light-equipment-rental-phuket) hire in Phuket is available as a separate service as well.

Catering and a mobile bar: sake and whisky highballs, signature cocktails, a tea ceremony, a chef and waiters. The decorations and styling — paper lanterns, silk, dark wood, flowers and a photo zone — are made to order, not hired at random.

The same approach works for intimate dinners, anniversaries and private evenings at a villa.
